The Bourne: St James Town Rental Tower Rises Above Grade

Construction is picking up momentum at 591 Sherbourne Street, where Medallion Corporation’s 56-storey rental tower, The Bourne, has officially risen above grade. Designed by Arcadis, the project is a notable addition to the St James Town skyline, set to deliver 592 much-needed rental units to the GTA market.

A standout feature of this development is its commitment to heritage preservation. The project integrates the 1902 Thomas Cruttenden Building into its base, blending historic red brick masonry with modern architectural elements. As of March 2026, the concrete frame has reached the fourth floor, with a distinct recessed ‘reveal’ marking the transition to the tower volume. Once completed, the 166.4-metre tower will feature a mix of brick and glazing, with retail frontage designed to animate the street level.
