AGO Expansion Reaches Milestone: A Boost for Toronto’s Cultural Scene

The Art Gallery of Ontario’s (AGO) highly anticipated Dani Reiss Modern and Contemporary Gallery addition has reached its full structural height, marking a significant milestone in the project. This expansion, designed by a collaborative team including Selldorf Architects, Diamond Schmitt Architects, and Two Row Architect, will add approximately 40,000 sq ft of new exhibition space, increasing the museum’s display area by roughly 30%.

The six-storey steel framework now stands behind the Galleria Italia along Dundas Street West. Cladding work is progressing, with zinc and glazed terracotta materials set to adorn the building’s exterior. The addition features a prominent cantilever, adding a unique architectural element to the city’s skyline. This investment in Toronto’s cultural infrastructure reflects the city’s ongoing growth and vibrancy. Read more about the AGO expansion and its impact on the city at UrbanToronto.
